Is advertising your own brand in your posts really appropriate?

Hi Albert,

I don't know how others feel, but I feel that it is inappropriate to be effectively advertising your own implementation of openVPMS through the forums or mailing lists. By all means show us pictures of OpenVPMS on the ipad.

Promoting your brand elsewhere is fine, but the project website aims to be neutral territory for discussion of the core project. I would like to see you succeed, as each user you have will be contributing subscriptions back to openvpms and there will be a bigger pool to fund the new development projects.

By advertising in your posts you are really only advertising to those of us that already have OpenVPMS implemented anyway.

Just my thoughts,
Matt Y.

Inital testing of OpenVPMS

Hi Albert,

Thanks for the information. Given the iPads smaller siblings the iPod touch and IPhone which use the same operating system work I would have been very surprised if the iPad didn't .  As you know all that is required to run OpenVPMS is a browser.  With the extra screen space the iPad will be very workable as a roving workstation in the clinic or for remote access while on the road.

I am interested in your statement about your version of OpenVPMS that has been customised for the US market.  We have had lots of discussion on the forum from other US suppliers and users about making tax changes to suit the US market and I was surprised to see you did not participate in these.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could highlight what customisations you have done and whether is it your intention to share these with the community or not ?

Agree with Matt's point as well.  I am a firm believer in commercial organisations being able to use the OpenVPMS project to develop products and services and market these to the community but there is a place for this marketing and there needs to be some balance between contribution and marketing. I am not sure you have the balance right yet Albert but I hope that will change ..

I think one or both of the Matt's had the idea of a commercial services page on the web site with links for organisations who had shown a certain level of contribution to the project.  Maybe this idea needs to be discussed and implemented somehow ?

Cheers

Tony
