Link between Medication and Stock

Hello,
I 'm learning how to use the stock module in OpenVpms. I've got a simle question: "When you prescribe a medication, when does the stock is updated and reduced by the quantity of medication you used for a visit ?"
Do you know any good documentation on stock module ?

Hi Daniel,To turn on stock control you first have to tick the Stock Control checkbox in your Practice Location(s). You will also need to make sure you have a Stock Location setup for each Practice Location. You can add a new Stock Location in Administration -> Organisation and link to the Practice Location in the same workspace. Once this is completed and you log out and back in the system will manage stock quantities i.e when you charge out medications and Merchandise items it will deduct stock and when you enter deliveries of stock (in Supplier -> Deliveries) it will add stock. To enter your current stock quantities you will need to do adjustments in Products ->Stock Management. You can add a number of stock reports to openVPMS to help with counting stock and reporting on current stock quantities. These can be found in the shared resources area on the web site. Doesn't work with medication

Hy Tony,

Thanks. It works with deliveries (and it was working before I've changed Stock Control checkbox), but when I make a medication, the stock is not modified. I have alsocompletely restart the server but it doesn't seems to work.

Does the stock is immediately changed when you do a medication or does it wait an special event ?

Do I have to create a new location ?

Do have to create new products after I've ticked the check Box ?

If you want I can try to start writing a user documentation on stock. Tell me if someone is interrested ?

It work only when you charge

Hy again,

It works ... The stock is updated when you make an invoice. I'll search in the forums, but is it possible to link automaticaly the medication you put during a visit and the invoice or do I have to create an invoice from scratch and reencode the products I have used ?
