Lost Line Breaks

Hello,

hopefully this is a pretty simple problem someone can help us out with.  We are running openVPMS on a cloud server.  On one workstation (running windows 7), line breaks in notes show up in the summary screen, but if the note is edited, the line breaks are lost until the edit is saved.  This is not an issue on the other machines with the same operating system.  It doesn't seem to matter if we use chrome or firefox.  Any thoughts?

Re: Lost Line Breaks

Winston - I cannot duplicate this (either Firefox 36.0.4 or Chrome  41.0.2272.101 m)

I tried using pressing Enter, and shift-enter (both give a new line) and with multi line text from a macro. Here is the note being editied:

and here is the medical records screen:

Can you possibly provide:

a) Firefox and Chrome versions

b) are these versions the same between the working & not-working workstations?

c) can you provide a screen snippet of what you see [using Snipping Tool provided with Win 7 - if you have never used it, you find it using the 'search programs' facility and entering 'snipping']

Re: Lost Line Breaks

I would check the sql - and see what is being saved

I think \n represents a linebreak.

Re: Lost Line Breaks

Thanks for the reply - we have found that the working Windows 7 machine is only working with Firefox.  I'll post some snippets

Here is how it looks in the summary screen

Re: Lost Line Breaks

And here's how it looks if we try to edit - the line breaks are preserved though, as they reappear in the summary screen once the edit is saved

Re: Lost Line Breaks

Re: Lost Line Breaks

This is to do with the way characters are handled on that machine -

Check the page encoding.

In chrome go to the menu then click "MORE TOOLS" or TOOLS and see what it is  detecting the page encoding as - it should be UTF-8

If it is anything else change it reload the page and see if its fixed.

For firefox try

Re: Lost Line Breaks

changing to UTF-8 sorted chrome out, but IE still struggling.  Will probably just stick to chrome, unless any other suggestions handy
