Macros for sms reminders
Submitted by Guest on Tue, 10/05/2016 - 14:08
Is anyone using macros for sms reminders? If so, where do we set the macro formula for this and is there a way to set more than one sms macro?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Re: Macros for sms reminders
We have them setup in Admin Lookups with the other Macros and they seem to come thru when we sms from the client information page.

Thanks Bernie. I have tried that already and it doesn't seem to work. Not sure why?

Sorry not the guru that can help you :)
Re: Macros for sms reminders
Macros aren't supported in SMS reminders. Its a limitation that will be fixed in 1.9.

Hey Tim,
We are still on an older version of Open and we are able to use macros. Not sure if you could then couldn't with the newer versions?

Re: Macros for sms reminders
You can expand macros in the SMS field of the Document Template, but macro expansion when the SMS reminder is sent is not supported.
In 1.9, you will be able to configure a template that supports macro expansion when the reminder is sent.
Re: Macros for sms reminders
Hi,
We recently upgraded to v1.9 mostly for the purpose of using macros in SMS reminders.
I cant see where I can find a template of macro lingo to modify for our SMS reminders. The only one I can find on the system is the appointment time confirmation one that seemed to be preloaded.
Are they available or do I need to write them myself from scratch?
Thanks

Re: Macros for sms reminders
A sample SMS reminder named 'Sample Vaccination Reminder SMS Template' is pre-loaded as part of the migration to 1.9.
This can be accessed in Administration -> Templates.

Trevor - see also (for appointment reminders):

The latter includes notes on how to switch the text for surgery appointments and how to replace dates by today and tomorrow.
