Mergefields / Disappearing appointments

Does anyone know the correct mergefield for either Word or Open office to prevent an undesexed dog coming up as a 'False' male or female when printed on certificates.

We have had a problem of appointments that have definitely been made disappearing and the clients subsequently turning up and the schedule ending up double or triple booked.
It is not reproducible on trialling and as it is not a one step procedure to delete an appointment I cannot see it been done accidentally especially 4 times in one morning as happened the other day.
Has anyone seen this as a problem?

Nick

Re: Mergefields / Disappearing appointments

In open office try the following;

1. Create a user field called "patientDesexed". To do this; a) Insert->Field b) Choose Variables c) Choose type "User Field" d) Type "patientDesexed" into Name box e) Type "patient.entity.desexed" into Value box f) Format is "Text"

2. Create a function a) In the same dialog choose the "Functions" tab b) Type is "Conditional Text" c) In Condition box type: patientDesexed EQ "true" d) In Then box type: Desexed e) In Else box type: Undesexed

3. Click Insert 4. Save doc and upload into Open VPMS

Good luck, Matt C

RE: Mergefields / Disappearing appointments

Hi Nick,

As you are aware OpenVPMS supports both OpenOffice and Word documents as templates. Matt's suggested approach is great for OpenOffice based templates but does not apply to Word templates.

I have done some playing with Word templates and I am not sure if the standard Word IF merge fields work as expected. With both kinds of templates Openoffice is still used to do the actual merge and it looks like it is ignoring the IF fields in the word document.

I will keep playing but maybe you may need to convert the existing document into a openoffice document, change to standard openoffice merge field format and then use the approach outlined by Matt.

Cheers Tony
