[OpenVPMS Developers] [JIRA] Created: (OVPMS-944) Direct visit editing

Direct visit editing --------------------

Key: OVPMS-944 URL: https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/OVPMS-944 Project: VPMS Web Application Issue Type: Improvement Components: Patient Affects Versions: 1.5 Reporter: Matt Costa Assignee: Tony De Keizer

After this a radical rethink was proposed to change the way that medical records are edited generally.

"

1. Direct editing of individual visit entries. In the Medical Records workspace allow users to double click a medical record entry to edit it. A dialogue will appear for that entry alone and when saved only that entry is saved and we have no issues with visit locking. To edit the actual visit details double click on the line with the visit and do the same. Obviosuly if you do this you may get a lock situation but less likely as only usually done to change clinician or status and is a quick edit so less chance of contention with someone else. Also much less to loose if you do get a lock situation not like loosing all your notes . 2. Workflow Visit Editing. Change the visit edit dialogue to display the summary instead of the table of visit entries and provide the same double click editing option as above. The summary woudl be displayed just like the summary tab in the current visit dialogue. We could make it so the filetr is set to only include the current visit and allow user sto remove the filter so they can see all clinical records, filter by type etc. Essentially a merge of the current two tabs and changing it so editing is much simpler.

"

The only additional point has been made that if possible, keeping the summary view readable whilst editing through a pop up would be ideal.

In order to support the requirement: {quote} The only additional point has been made that if possible, keeping the summary view readable whilst editing through a pop up would be ideal. {quote} a tab would need to be added to each of the record editors (Problem, Note, etc), i.e they would display the summary in the same manner as the Visit editor. The following changes are needed

|| Record Name || Archetype || Change || |Note|act.patientClinicalNote| new editor required| |Problem|act.patientClinicalProblem|add summary to org.openvpms.web.app.patient.mr.PatientClinicalProblemActEditor| |Weight|act.patientWeight|new editor required|| |Medication|act.patientMedication|add summary to org.openvpms.web.component.im.edit.medication.PatientMedicationActEditor| |Investigation|act.patientInvestigation|add summary tab to org.openvpms.web.component.im.edit.investigation.PatientInvestigationActEditor| |Attachment|act.patientDocumentAttachment|add summary tab to org.openvpms.web.app.patient.document.PatientDocumentActEditor| |Form| act.patientDocumentForm|"'| |Image|act.patientDocumentImage|""| |Letter|act.patientDocumentLetter|""|

For each editor, the summary would only be visible when editing is launched from the Medical Records workspace

Matt Costa commented on OVPMS-944: ----------------------------------

Thanks Tim, I've been thinking about the Summary tab inclusion in the various medical record type editors. I think this will meet the requirement just fine.

My first reaction was to think that seeing the summary view for some record types would be unneeded eg. Weight. But who is to say when end users might want to revise the content of a previous visit. My second concern was whether the summary tab might be a source of confusion for the user. Will they click it and wonder why they can't double click to edit the information within?

Do you think this addition will be confusing for users Tony? I am happy with the solution btw and hae posted the $ funding on the website.

Cheers, Matt

Tim Anderson commented on OVPMS-944: ------------------------------------

After several prototypes, the behaviour is as described in the original entry. The addition of the summary tab to each medical record editor looked very clumsy. Also: * the summary tab displayed when editing a visit (added for OVPMS-642) has been removed, made redundant by the fact that individual visit entries can be edited. * double click behaviour has been relaxed. There is now no time limit between the first and second click on a record for the editor to be displayed.

Changes applied to vpms, revisions: 3782-3784,3789

[OpenVPMS Developers] [JIRA] Reopened: (OVPMS-944) Direct visit

Tony De Keizer reopened OVPMS-944: ----------------------------------

The changes as proposed are a positive step forward but on testing and using the new visit editor my observations/suggestions are as follows: * Adding new medical records entries is not intuitive. The user needs to know that they have to select the visit and edit it and then add new entries from the standard visit CRUD editor. Both the new Medical Record dialogue and the existing Patient Medical Records workspace need to have the New button implemented differently to support direct Medical Record entry creation without the need to bring up the Visit CRUD window. * The medical record dialogue used in consulting needs to be changed from "Select Medical Record.." to "Edit Medical Records" to reflect that this is a direct editing dialogue and not just a visit selection dialogue. * The new medical records dialogue should be used throughout the application to replace the existing CRUD Window. This means the Check-In workflow needs to be modified to use GetClinicalRecordTask and EditClinicalRecordTask. * Currently adding new entries via CRUD window or editing entries does not refresh the summary display. * During workflow functions the default display should be All clinical records not just the current Visit.

NOTE: I have made local code changes and tested for points 2,3,5. Can we get a estimated cost to implement 1. and fix 4.

For point 1 the change would need to include the following. # If a visit is selected, clicking New brings up a "Select the type of Medical Record to create" dialog with the following options: #* Visit #* Note #* Problem #* Weight etc # If no visit is selected, clicking New creates a new Visit and edits it as is the case now # If a Note, Problem, or Weight etc was created, this would automatically be linked to the visit on save.

Estimate 4 hours to implement,

I'll fix point 4. Oversight on my part.

Re point 1:

Could I suggest the highest use case in terms of item selected in the "Select the type of Medical Record to create" dialog is selected by default? This would undoubtedly be "Note".

Also the "Select the type of Medical Record to create" dialog should be keyboard navigable (up and down key) and selection made with either mouse click or Enter.

Adjust 4hr estimate for these additional specs?

Cheers, Matt C

4 hours to implement *without* the keyboard navigation and default selection of Note. Add another 3 hours to include keyboard navigation and default selection of 'Note'.

> Direct visit editing > -------------------- > > Key: OVPMS-944 > URL: https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/OVPMS-944 > Project: VPMS Web Application > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: Patient > Affects Versions: 1.5 > Reporter: Matt Costa > Assignee: Tony De Keizer > Fix For: 1.5 > > Original Estimate: 8h > Time Spent: 8h > Remaining Estimate: 0h > > After this a radical rethink was proposed to change the way that medical records are edited generally. > " > 1. > " > The only additional point has been made that if possible, keeping the summary view readable whilst editing through a pop up would be ideal.

So I have posted a 7hr add on option to the users forum. Can we create a sub-jira for this with its own JIRA number for invoicing purposes? We already have 50% of the 7hrs pledged. Thanks
