Re: Openvpms Release 1.5 beta-1 is now available

Hi Matt,

What does it mean by:

***important

Please note that this is a beta release and as such is not yet ready for production environments

What is classed as a prodcution environment?

Sandra.

Re: Openvpms Release 1.5 beta-1 is now available

Your practice is a production environment.

By beta release, it means that the software has full functionality, but isn't yet ready for everyday use in a practice. By releasing a beta, users get a chance to evaluate the software and report any problems.

If there are issues, we can fix these before doing the final release.

Re: Openvpms Release 1.5 beta-1 is now available

Hi Tim,

So is the idea that some users install 1.5 Beta-1 to evaluate it or is this done by the developers? Can this new release be loaded alongised the 1.4 Beta-2 that we are currently running so we can have look and evaluate? Or do we wait for the go ahead?

Re: Openvpms Release 1.5 beta-1 is now available

Hi Sandra,

The beta release has actually been tested thoroughly in house and then at a single production site and any issues we found fixed.  The warning is only to say that there may still be some unexpected issues in this release and that only people who are happy to accept this should consider installing it.   If not wait until the final release.

You can install the release on your training system if you prefer so you can have a look.  From a testing perspective I find this doesn't achieve much unless you actively exercise all the standard workflows you use day to day.  It also doesn't test any performance issues that may have been introduced.

If you prefer call me and we can discuss the options at your practice.  :-)

Cheers

Tony
