Reporting - How to counting number of patients with invoice items where there multiple units for an item

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has already created or has ideas on how to do a "sale report - count invoice items" (between a date range),which includes the number of times the item is charged, not a count of the number of invoices or item counts.

We are running into issues with products such as "dental surgery" which is a per minute unit charge.  If we report by item we get total of all the dental surgery minutes done.  We don't want the number surgery minutes, just the number of times we charged that line item.   If we run it by invoice count, then we miss any times where the line item is charged more than once on an invoice - such as for multiple pets from the same family.

My work around currently is to run the report by item counts, export to excel and then count the number of patients; -but this is not ideal.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Thanks

David - I can easily tweak one of our reports.  Can I verify that what currently shows as

would have in the Total line a 'Count' figure added, which in the above case would be 2.

What is the target - 1.7 or 1.8?

It is done - see http://www.openvpms.org/customisation/sales-productcustomer (this is targetted at 1.7 and does run on 1.8 as well. The above output now looks like (with Print Detail off)

Hi Tim,

Many thanks for this; works as described.  Hopefully others can use it as well.

Would it be possible to have the output include the location field as a column header as well?

Cheers

David

David - anything is possible.

Currently the information is presented as Product/Customer

Do you want Product/Location/Customer or Location/Product/Customer ?

PS - you do realise that you are building a substantial debit in the 'I owe Tim G' account that will be called on for the next project I want funded.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for this.  "Anything is possible" but I'm learning that what I think will be 'easy' takes a whole heap of work and vice versa this too.   Sometimes the simplest idea has the biggest flow on consequences.

Happy to be contributing to the TimG account too; - plenty being contributed at the moment, and the project is going ahead in leaps and bounds which is great; - AND if you're ever in Adelaide let us know too..

Location / Product / Customer would my preference. Happy for this to be csv export format if this is easier also.   Also - forgot we're currently on version_1.9 (snapshot 6752); and the previous report works fine with the upgrade version too.

Thanks

David.

OK - will do Location/Product/Customer.

CSV (or rather settings things up for a good quality CSV output) is a pain - you have to be really careful about alignment (so you don't get a spreadsheet with lots of blank rows and columns) and if the output consists of multiple lines you have to add in a line type indicator so the user can sort things appropriately.

I am currently putting out two fires in Hong Kong, you are now 4th in the queue.

Thanks for the note about 1.9 - targetting 1.8+ means I can use Jaspersoft Studio which I like far more than iReports.

Adelaide - we just booked flights for a 4 night stay in November !!
