Some novel experiences of our clinic with Open VPMS: User driven development
Hi everyone,
This week we had the pleasure of using a brand new feature of OpenVPMS. That in itself is not ground-breaking but the way in which this feature came to be was.
Some of you may have read these posts in our forum;
http://www.openvpms.org/forum/sex-neutering-status-patient-medical-recor...
They detail that in our clinic we use notes, visible in the scheduler a lot. The solution of using a pop up bubble just wasn't suitable for our work flows.
We approached OpenVPMS with a request for a specific solution;
We needed a customisable option to choose what was visible in our appointment boxes and we could not afford to develop anything to fancy!
The development team came back with a solution and we agreed on a budget.
Last Sunday, Tony installed the modification on site.
I wanted to relate this to the community because this series of events could only have happened with OpenVPMS. No other software option out there is set up to manage this type of interaction. The cost to have text notes in our schedulers was just over $750 and the importance to us is vastly more then that. The solution is freely available to everyone now.
We are convinced that Open VPMS will have no limits in our practice and will become a competitive advantage for us over those clinics with other solutions. But we also accept that the extent of that advantage will be determined by our determination, imagination and budget.
Cheers,
Matt Costa & Peter Gooey

Hi Matt, I read the link re: 'User Summaries & Appty Boxes' where you mentioned that the pop up bubble wasn't suitable for you. I was interested reading the abbreviations your clinic uses on the schedules and worklists. What view do you use on the scheduler, event type? clinician? status? Do your vets have to check each appt note to see when they are specifically booked? What was the solution that was developed for you?
