Tendering payment fields, pricing new products problems

Hi couple of observations with 1.2 B.

(You may have sorted some of these as I see an update was released yesterday.)

When attempting to make a payment on a clients  account you must enter a tendered amount greater or equal to the amount owed. Often though people may part pay or pay part cash part eftpost etc. I get a red error screen if enter less than total invoice value prompting for a >or= value.
Also if they overpay - tender $50 for a $40 bill, say, the extra $10 isnt carried as a credit on the owners account, their account is just zeroed - similarly the invoice gives a zero balance rather than a credit.

Another thing Ive noted entering pricing of a new product when I enter the cost price and click supply some times it will enter the  price with markup and gst added when I hit apply, but this is only sometimes. More often than not I have to enter an arbitary price or it red flags me and asks for the price to be entered. I then enter any value, click apply and ok. I then need to  reenter pricing and edit the price, altering its value, apply it then enter the correct value again and then it works - calculating the bottom value as it should.

Convoluted description sorry, I get there eventually but it just slows entry of products having to go back and forth to get the markup and tax adjusting calculation to function as its meant to.

A useful report would be a stock take report. Ive worked around it finding I can cut and past to a spreadsheet from stock location/products and will be able to get what I want but thats cheating.

Thanks Geoff

RE: [OpenVPMS Developers] Tendering payment fields, pricingnew p

Hi Geoff,

Sorry I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of the tendered amount field. It is only availbale when you enter a cash payment and represents the amount provided in cash by the customer and from this it will calculate change due based on change = tendered amount - cash amount.

Also when you first enter a payment and select a payment type it defaults the payment amount to the current customer balance. You are free to decrease or increase this amount and also create multiple payment types that are less than, equal or exceed the total customer balance. If you overpay the customer will have a credit balance etc.

In regards the automatic price calculation during unit price entry it would be good to get the sequence that is not working. BTW Remember to hit enter on the cost price /markup etc to make it trigger a calculation ..

Hi Tony,

Exactly right. Busy clicking the mouse when should hit enter in both cases. Knew what tendered was meant to mean but wasnt working as was using mouse/ok rather than hitting enter so it wasnt doing what I was expecting.

Thanks Geoff
