1.7 Alpha Species Custom Field not working

I have added the Example Custom Field to the Canine species (in the demo 1.7 alpha system). However, when I go to the patient information screen or create a new patient, nothing shows. The Lookup|Species screen shows that its there, and I can see the archetype, but nothing on the patient record.

I seem to remember that this used to work in 1.6 but currently I do not have access to a 1.6 system that I can test on.

As you might guess I need a screen shot using this facility for the CSH project.

I do have a vague memory that the problem has something to do with having to create actual data records before the custom fields will show.

If the patient doesn't have any custom field, the Example Custom Fields tab won't show.

Just edit the patient, and save it; the field will be added.

Arrrgghh - you are correct

a) for existing patients (who are Canines) you have to edit to get the custom field tab to show for the first time

b) for new patients, the custom tab does not appear until you set the species to Canine

I will tweak the CSH page.
