Dispensing notes for services

I was watching one of our "Master of Stores" (our inventory manager title) add a product to OpenVPMS the other day. She was adding a reading fee for an xray and was adding it as a Medication. "Why are you adding it as a medication?" I asked.

It turned out that she needed to add some tips/policy points when the service was being estimated (or invoiced). Whenever there was that requirement, the team uses Medications instead of Services.

So two questions;

1. Could we add Service Notes?

It would awesome if we could have an equivalent to dispensing notes in medications for services.

2. Can we convert Services to Medications?

I know we can't at the moment but would the fields be able to be mapped such that this was a possibility?

Thanks

Matt

Re: Dispensing notes for services

1. Service Notes

  • This would just display as a popup that you click OK on, during charging?
  • If the service has multiple popups (e.g. it generates investigations), I assume it should appear before any others?
  • At present, no dispensing notes are displayed when adding a medication to an estimate. Should dispensing and service notes
  • Would this also apply to Merchandise products? And be called Charging Notes instead of Service Notes?

2. Why do you need to do this?

Re: Dispensing notes for services

Hi Tim,

1.

Yes, like the medication popup. If there was no Charging Note -> no popup.

We would love Charging Notes (of all types) to appear during estimating. To tailor for those clinics who did not want popus during estimations, perhaps a Practice Location option "Show Charging notes when estimating".

Yes for Merch.

2. Examples

Estimating a service: Fancy blood test

Charge note = "Unlike other tests, DO NOT ask owner to fast their pet. Make sure they get the special Fancy Blood Test form before they leave your consulting room so they can bring it with them on test day"

Selling over complicated Merch: Dog lead

Charge note = "Don't forget this lead comes with the free Superman cape stored behind the front desk."

Billing a service with special considerations: Lab test on Lump

Charge note = "This fee only covers one lump. If you are sending multiple lumps use, MULTI LUMP HISTOPATHOLGY"

Did you see the reference in the fancy blood test example to pre procedure information forms? In future, this pop up would be a good time to allow clinics to generate pre procedure information sheets linked to a given product or service, prior to billing.....

Cheers

Matt
