Hi
I was wondering when creating documents if there was a feild yet for mobile phone numbers if the person does not have a home contact it will defult to the preferred contact or next available. We have lots of clients that do dont have home numbers and i would like their contact to appear on the cage cards if possible.
Thanks
Jocelyn
Re: documents
We have added a JIRA to add mobile phone support to the current getWork and getHome telephone functions. Here's is the JIRA so you can see how it will work.
https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/ARCH-19
This will be done for version 1.4 upgrade.
In mean time if you want these numbers to appear on forms etc you can add the mobile number as a phone Number.
One other option I just thought about may be a better solution. We initially introduced the mobile phone contact as distinct from the phone contact in preparation for SMS functionality (i.e. We can differentiate between the two and if you have a mobile phone offer SMS functions). Maybe better is to call them all phone numbers and have a flag that indicates if it can be used for SMS ?
This could be done and existing data migrated with the 1.4 upgrade script. What do people think about this idea ?
Cheers Tony

Re: Documents
Sounds good to me - saves an extra step in adding contacts.
Would you enter the mobile as a whole number as now or would 04 have to go as the area code - ie are phone numbers restricted to 8 digits?
Also currently we append the persons name who owns the phone number after the number (ie Mr, Mrs, son daughter etc) - does this interfere with any search function - is there some other way we should be identifying them
Nick
Re: Documents
Whole number.
Thinking area code a bit of a pain really but may not be the case in some circumstances. Easy to remove and append if needed. Again what do people think ?

Re: Documents
It should not interfere as long as when we use for SMS we strip any non numeric characters.
Alternatively we can readily add a notes field to phone numbers which would keep the numbers "pure"

Editing Phone number names
Sandra @ Bellarine
Hi Tony,
How do we show the phone number name field so that we can edit it?
Is it something each practice has to change or does it need to come in another release?
Sandra.
Re: Editing Phone number names
Changing the contacts so you can edit the contact name is pretty straight forward and can be done by each practice through the archetype editor but this is probably not the whole picture.
We would also need to display the name in the customer description or in the customer summary for it to be of any use. Also do we display this on forms through the getTelephoneNumber functions or supply additional functions to display both name and number or number by itself.
Lastly I was suggesting that we merge the phoneNumber and mobileNumber contacts and add SMS flag to the phone Number contact.
All of these additional changes will require some programming and data updates and hence a release.
Cheers Tony
