How easy would it be to

Hi all,
VPMS softwares are meant to improve practice management and client communication as well as being repositories for client/patient accounts and histories. Open VPMS does the latter well but after using it for 9 months I still find some of the other functionality either lacking or time consuming.

I know some of the points I am raising may have been raised before but would like to see whether others are thinking along the same lines. If they are then the way this forum has proved itself in the past may fast track some items.

1) The product management area REALLY needs some input - we use it a lot and it is especially difficult and time consuming adjusting prices especially when food or pathology companies give you a long list of price increases (or when we put our own fees up). Please can we put this on the development list to enable an item list of some sort such that you can keep choosing each next item without having to go back through the whole select procedure for every item

2)Clients have as contacts both email addresses and Mobile Phone numbers - surely these could be made as links so that if clicked on they could open up a new email message or for mobiles open up Outlook so that one of the many communication programs that link to Outlook can send an sms. I am sure the work underway for data export may make this whole process easy but these seem to me (as a non computer guru) to be steps that might be easy to introduce in the interim

I see on the forum that a lot of improvements are being included on 1.4 - is there an approximate due date on it's release?

Cheers,
Nick

Some new feature suggestions by Nick

Hey Nick,

I reckon you are using the Products area alot more intensively then us! It is really good to get your feedback when pushing the existing framework to its limit. I had a clinic come and visit us this week and they were asking me about Ordering and product management. I mentioned that there were clinics using it much more intensively then us and to look up some of the points you have raised in the past.

I'm going to create two new forum topics to try and address your points. I will let them run for the week then create some development tasks based on the discussion they have raised.

Whilst I'm about it are there other projects/features that people are keen to get discussion started on? Don't forget to check the Active Development section of the site. Some of those "Awaiting Funding" features have been stalled at partly funded states for some time now.

With respect to the 1.4 release date, I will leave that to Tony. OpenVPMS will need to raise some cash to pay for the work that needs to be done in creating the package to deploy it. At the moment we were hoping to use OpenVPMS internal funds to do this but if people are willing to help out to speed it's release it would be appreciated. Just contact either myself or Tony. I can't tell you how much money we need to raise yet but every little bit helps!

Cheers,

Matt

Product Pricing

Hey Nick

After having come across from Visual Vetaid. I also think it is very difficult when changing long price list not to be able to just push next and go on to the next product on the list. We would support the developement of a system were you are able to do this.
