My thoughts re Tony's queries on v1.4 inclusions

Hi All,

Tony has broadened my initial query about smaller projects that could possibly be fast tracked into v1.4 (see his entry under sms project discussion)
In looking back through several pages of posts I can see the following list as being important enough to try and rush - even if only partly functional in the initial release and expanded on in further patches or releases:

- Improved Email Functionality - directly from client, email button from a document, email lists able to be exported
- SMS enabled from single clicks from various areas - especially Client summary info, Schedules and Worklists
- Enhanced search and product interface to allow selection of products / clients etc without going back to the 'select' field and re entering every time ('email browser' type as suggested by Matt?)
- An export button on reports and lists that would allow export to OO Spreadsheet or other programs)
- Scheduling - Appointment Searches, Transfers and Blocking
- Desexed Merge fields producing correct entries (this may be just me but despite help I still cannot get beyond Male/Female = False/True)

I'm sure there are other small list entries others have suggested but these are my suggestions - as Tony and Matt have said - if you want improved functionality in 1.4 put the pedal to the metal and get your thoughts on the forum

Cheers,

Nick

Nick's thoughts on v1.4 inclusions

Sandra @ Bellarine

Hi Nick,

I agree with a lot of your listed items above.  I have been reviewing my posts since we began on OpenVPMS to see what I thought were priorities and I'm about to add some discussions over the next week to see what other people think of items that I find important.  I'm planning to add my posts one at a time, only because I find it more difficult to respond to duplicate listings in one post.

As far as the male/female - false/true topic, I managed to get this to work but it's been a while and I did have a problem with it.  If you would like me to 'have a go' at helping you email me at sandra[at]bellvet.com[dot]au and we'll organise a time.  Can't promise anything but I'm happy to try.

Sandra

Nicks thoughts on 1.4 stuff

Hey Nick & Sandra,

Thanks for summarising this list. Can you edit your post and add some links to the forums where these topics were discussed? It will save me some time when creating active projects.

My thoughts on your list below:

I think we might struggle to get some of these into 1.4 just with the time it takes to get them created but never say never!

- Improved Email Functionality - directly from client, email button from a document, email lists able to be exported

I have created an Email functionality project here

www.openvpms.org/project/email-enhancements

I have left out email list generation as it fits in with your Export Reports feature below.

- SMS enabled from single clicks from various areas - especially Client summary info, Schedules and Worklists

I have created an active project here.

www.openvpms.org/project/sms-project-first-steps

I also added email-fax functionality as an optional step. This would be good for those of us with Hylafax installed at our practices.

- Enhanced search and product interface to allow selection of products / clients etc without going back to the 'select' field and re entering every time ('email browser' type as suggested by Matt?)

Can you find this forum for me Nick. I'm pretty certain given this might take some user interface design that it won't make it for 1.4

- An export button on reports and lists that would allow export to OO Spreadsheet or other programs)

I have created an active project here.

www.openvpms.org/node/add/development-project

See if it suits your requirements Nick. I suspect the Business Analysis Toolkit  whilst being able to acheive this may be some time away.

- Scheduling - Appointment Searches, Transfers and Blocking

Some of this has an active project but this would require a fair bit more discussion. I can't see this getting into 1.4 I'm afraid.

- Desexed Merge fields producing correct entries (this may be just me but despite help I still cannot get beyond Male/Female = False/True)

I reckon this could be overcome by your implementor Nick. I'm sure we have got this to work... but I have tried to help and failed. I hope Sandra serves you better!

Cheers,

Matt C

re: 1.4 stuff

Sandra @ Bellarine

Hi Matt,

I don't know how to add a link to a post, can you tell me how.

What I've been doing is searching (and sometimes searching & searching!) for the post related to the topic that I want to re-visit, and then continuing on with that. I find it tricky reading and replying to more than one topic in a post as it can get very messy.

I've also found in the past the simpler the post is to read and follow the more posts you'll get in reply.

Sandra.

Version 1.4 will soon be closed....

Hi everyone. Version 1.4 is all but ready to be tied off, packaged and sent out. It is important to note that any active project that is partially funded will NOT be included in the 1.4 release. This currently includes;

Seeing dispensing units during invoicing Seeking Funding   10%
Additional report delivery formats Seeking Funding   10%
Patient and Customer Search By ID Seeking Funding   35%
Searching Appointments Seeking Funding   40%
Appointment Transfer Seeking Funding   54%

Given that 1.4 already has a lot of functionality that people are keen to use and its release is long overdue, how badly do people want the above features? If there is a strong feeling that certain features are critical and worth delaying the 1.4 release, we can consider that. If you really want 1.4 features NOW then we should hear from you too!

Cheers,

Matt C

Re: Version 1.4 will soon be closed....

Hey Chris,

Thanks so much for the support. I will contact you off list re your pledges.

Note that Appointment transfer has been fully funded, so you can spend your 10% on a different feature! Cheeky bugger I am :)

Version 1.4 is officially closed

Hi everyone!

Yes it is true. Version 1.4 is now closed for future feature additions.

Any features currently listed as "Seeking Funding" or "Under Discussion" will hopefully be included in the Version 1.5 release which is slated for next year.

The developers will now undertake the work required to produce the hefty 1.4 release package.

Cheers to all those who contributed both in ideas and funding pledges to produce this version. Stay tuned for a release date!
