Product Structure and Product type sales report not working
Submitted by Guest on Wed, 05/04/2017 - 16:55
Hello,
We recently updated to V1.9 and have noticed that the product structure report and the sales by product type is no longer working and even though the product type has been allocated to the item.
Is it possible to get this updated for our financial reporting as soon as possible.
Many thanks
Re: Product Structure and Product type sales report not working
There were some changes made for OpenVPMS 1.9 that require reports that query by product types to be updated.
The update to the Product Structure Report can be found here: http://openvpms.org/customisation/product-structure-report . This report is also included in the 1.9.1 release.
I'm not sure what 'sales by product type' you are referring to. The release includes a Customer Product Sales Report, and the Practice Summary report includes a break down of sales by product type.
Re: Product Structure and Product type sales report not working
I suspect that you have not read through the Implementation Checklist - see http://www.openvpms.org/documentation/csh/1.9/new-features/implementatio.... This page is linked from the New in 1.9 page - see http://www.openvpms.org/documentation/csh/1.9/new-features
The problem is that the way that product types are linked to products has changed (to improve performance) and hence any report to deals with product types needs to be modified.
All the standard reports have been. If you are running customised reports and these reference product types, then these need to be fixed.
That said, I think I have the solution(s) to your problems. I will report back tomorrow morning.

Re: Product Structure and Product type sales report not working
Further to my note above: (Tim A and I both appeared to have replied at the same time)
a) Tim A has indicated the 1.9 version of the Product Structure report in the resource library. Not however, that the standard Product List Report in 1.9.1 is a superior report. [Implicit in this statement is the fact that 1.9.1 has significant set of enhancements to the standard reports - see http://www.openvpms.org/openvpms-1.9.1
b) sales by product type - the following table (generated when I upgraded a practice to 1.9.1) may help:
Recommendations:
a) 1.9.1 is better than 1.9
b) you really do need to ensure that the new report set is loaded when you do the upgrade - see http://www.openvpms.org/documentation/csh/1.9/topics/installing-openvpms...
