Setting up on a small network
Hi,
I am getting to grips with the software on a standalone machine but I am not certain
how to run the application over a network. The practice we are in the process of
taking over (a month to go) is just single vet so invisage connecting the main computer (xp pro)
in the office to a smaller computer on reception (win 2000). I have them hooked up over a
router/network switch. The network is working fine in that I can access files both ways.
What programs should I place on the reception computer. Can I just use firefox to access
the office one on which openvpms is up and running over the network. I tried to link to firefox
located on the office machine but it didnt work.
Do I install it all on both computers and just access mysql on the office computer.
Also I have been trying to include units after quantity on labels - for instance tablets or mls -
looked like it was setup fine on irreport but when print label it prints node error rather than the
unit?
Thanks Geoff
RE: Setting up on a small network
No need to install anything on reception computer. Just need to point firefox on reception computer to office computer i.e
http://office:8080/openvpms/app
and should run. Obvisouly replace office with the netbios name of the office pc.
Only thing to watch out for is the dreaded windows xp firewall. Maybe be blocking access from the network to the Tomcat 8080 port. You can turn off firewall to test this or just add an exception for port 8080.
With the drug label template make sure you add the field product.entity.dispensingUnits to the field list (View ->Fields->New). is case sensitive ...
