SmartFlow - support syncronization of templates

Currently, Templates don't sync to smartflow for billing purposes.  I am wondering if this limit can be removed so that a smart flow procedure could be linked to an OpenVPMS template. 

Most procedures done at a vet practice really require templating if you're going to manage stock effectively...i.e - a Fluid Setup might use a catheter or two, iv line, bag of fluid, etc - all individual stock items that need tracking and reordering.

The main reason this isn't supported is due to the complexity in supporting amendments. At the moment, if you amend a billed treatment in SFS, the line item on the invoice in OpenVPMS will be updated.

If the invoice has been finalised prior to a treatment being amended, and the:

  • quantity is increased, the difference between the charged and new quantities will be added to a new Invoice
  • quantity is reduced, the difference between the charged and new quantities will be added to a new Credit

If the SFS treatment corresponded to a template in OpenVPMS, each line item generated from the template would also need to update to reflect the new quantity as well as handling the above.

Additional complexity occurs if a weight based template is used, and the patient weight changes between the treatment being added and subsequently amended. This can change the products invoiced.

Yep, I get it... conversely I noted  items marked as template only are excluded from synchronization.  I again understand this, but in light of the above - it may be wise to allow this optionally?

Allowing products flagged as 'Use only in Templates' to be used in Smart Flow Sheet defeats the purpose of the flag. If you want to be able to use such a product in SFS, turn the flag off.
