transfer of data

Hello to all openvpms users,

I am considering implementing the open vpms system into my practice, but was wondering if anyone has changed over from filemaker (CHSvet) software, and if so that the data is easily able to be transferred over. any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. thanks
Ivor

Re: transfer of data

Hi Ivor,

we have done this; a dual location mixed practice. Tony and his crew seem to have completed a data transfer that is very acceptable, except old accounts not moved across (not a real problem for us though). Sorry I can't offer much advice apart from the fact that the transition has been good. Worth speaking to Tony about his experience with helping us.

Thanks Chris

RE: transfer of data

Hi Ivor,

OpenVPMS has developed a toolkit and can provide advice on how to use this toolkit to transfer data into the OpenVPMS database.

It is a very sophisticated tool and is really aimed at software implementers and developers rather than end users. They are able to use it to develop complete automated systems to take essentially any source data and load into OpenVPMS using a graphical building tool.

As Chris mentioned my company has utilised this tool to develop systems to move data from most of the common veterinary software systems into OpenVPMS. We use this is a part of our overall software implementation process when we are moving our customers across to the OpenVPMS system.

As this is probably not the best forum to discuss this any further I will send you my direct contact details so we can discuss further if you wish.

Cheers Tony
