After a recent update of firefox to version 3.5.5 we noted our open office documents (*.odt files) were being downloaded by firefox and converted into a read-only file. It appears the developers have made a change to make it less likely a file will be lost during a download forcing the user to create another file to work on. See post:

After discussing the problem with Tony we have found a solution. Do this on each login and the problem goes away:

It appears that the GST calculation in OpenVPMS is based on the selling price, with the assumption that the tax is INCLUDED in the price - is this correct? For instance - if I have an item that sells for $4.19 with a 10% GST, it will display 0.42 for tax - however the total sale will still be $4.19.

This is not how US Sales Tax works. US Sales Tax is added to the total sale as an additional cost. So an item selling for $4.19 with a 10% Sales Tax (note: in the US this would be a crazy high tax, but I'm using this for illustration) would have a total sale of $4.19 +0.42 (Tax) = $4.61.

When the email functionality was discussed it was stated that a basic version is already built into the reminder system. Does anyone use this? If so how do you set it up and can you choose which clients you email to or is it an all or nothing system?

When scrolling through the pages in Patient Medical Records it would be very handy if when you got to the bottom of the page of hx there were 'NEXT or PREVIOUS page navigation ARROWS' that you could click on and they would take you to the TOP of the next page.

When you have a 10 page hx and get to the bottom of the page you have to go back up to the top and click on the next page arrows, it would be much simpler to be able to navigate to next and previous pages via arrows at the bottom of the page as well as the top.

What do other users think?

What I want to be able to do, is use the macros that I have set up in openvpms, to appear when I type them into the merge field boxes that pop up to type text into in the "Letters" drop down menu from the Hx.

In the last run our Dental reminders started putting the date the reminder was initiated rather than the time it is due on the reminder - we have not noticed this as a problem before. On the reminder template (OO) the mergefield is 'startTime' - is this what it should be? If yes, what has gone wrong? If no, what is the correct mergefield?

How hard would it be to have a filter on the patient histories. In RxWorks we used this a lot, if you had a very long hx you could type a word in a box and enter and it would bring up all hx entries for the patient containing that word.

Our vets have had a problem losing hx's. This happens if they do a consult, and rather than typing up the long hx and keeping the client waiting they bill it and then the client goes to the front desk to pay. The receptionist may sell some more products eg; worm tabs that appear on the hx.

I have posted this forum topic to prevent spamming everyone with Funding Updates from each project.

The majority of these projects are slated for the 1.5 release so unless you were a contributor you will have to wait until the release is ready. For those of you who funded the projects we will be in touch when testing can commence.

When adding new products I am finding the entry of units very confusing.

Lets say you're adding a 20ml bottle of koagulon injection which will be sold by the ml. You set a unit price and the selling unit is set to mls. Then you add a supplier. To get the unit price to work here you need to set the package size to 20 and the package units to mls (if you set the package unit to bottle the unit price doesn't get updated).
